“Nursing matters. Your work will matter, and you will be rewarded by your part in healing people throughout our communities and the state,” said Thompson, a 2012 DBI graduate and Licensed Practical Nurse. “You have learned to care for patients as people, understanding their fears and remaining a calm presence in their room no matter what situation is in front of you.
Said Thompson: “We nurses know that physical health is fundamentally connected to the health of a whole person. A person’s joy, connection with family and friends, pursuit of passion and ultimately their engagement with all parts of life are impacted by their physical well-being. The work of nurses allows people to once again enjoy many parts of their mind and life that have been taken by an illness or injury. This program helps aspiring nurses from across our area, including in communities I represent, achieve their professional dreams. I am incredibly proud of these graduates for choosing this path and nursing as their field. They are needed in Michigan and across our region. I am confident that each and every one of them has a bright future ahead.”
Thompson is the Vice Chair of the House Health Policy Committee and in her second term representing the 28th House District, which includes Brownstown Township, Flat Rock, Rockwood, Woodhaven and parts of Taylor in Wayne County, as well as Berlin Township and Frenchtown Township in Monroe County.
