State Rep. Ron Robinson, R-Utica, today voted in support of legislation to increase public safety funding and strengthen law enforcement efforts across Michigan. The House passed the Public Safety Trust Fund plan, which allocates $115 million statewide to support safety initiatives.
The plan provides funding for local safety grants and violence prevention programs, enabling communities to invest in advanced technology, enhanced officer training, and proven community policing strategies.
“Safety first — wise words to live by,” said Robinson. “I’m committed to making sure Michiganders feel safe in their homes and communities. That starts with strong support for our law enforcement. When we have their back, they can have ours and ensure that Michigan families can rest easy at night.”
Police departments across the state have struggled with recruitment and retention. The new resources aim to address these challenges, improve officer readiness, and foster trust between law enforcement and Michigan residents.
“This investment in Macomb County will make a meaningful difference where it’s needed most,” said Robinson. “It will allow our local departments to upgrade outdated equipment, enhance officer training, and expand community-focused policing efforts. I’ve had conversations with officers and families across Macomb, and there’s a clear, shared message that they want safer neighborhoods and stronger support for those who protect them. This funding helps deliver exactly that.”
