John Damoose (R-Harbor Springs, left), at the Cheboygan County Probate Court on 1/23/2023.
Earlier this week, Rep. Cam Cavitt (R-Cheboygan) awarded legislative tributes to two retiring police officers in Cheboygan, Michigan.
The first tribute was presented to Sheriff Dale Clarmont of the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, who retired after 35 years in law enforcement. The second was presented to the City of Cheboygan’s Police Chief Kurt Jones, who retired after 42 years in law enforcement.
“Both of these men have sacrificed so much for our community,” Cavitt said. “They dedicated their lives to public service. Their bravery on daily basis is a testament to their dedication to our community, and our state. I wish them both a happy and well-deserved retirement.”
“Please encourage anyone affected by the plant closing to contact my office. We can help guide them through the unemployment process and be a resource as they navigate this difficult time,” Cavitt said. “People are waking up to difficult news this morning. Please know that you do not have to go through this alone. There is a whole community behind you. We’re ready to help.”
“The Democrat majority forced through terrible gun legislation that I opposed at every level,” Cavitt said. “Bills like these set a dangerous precedent for violating Second Amendment rights. I’m committed to undoing these dangerous policies. Our constitutional rights are the bedrock to our society, and we must hold up and honor those rights. However, the radical Democrat plan is now law and people need to be prepared.”
“People harvest deer year-round. Whether it’s farmers with nuisance licenses or a surplus of deer during hunting season, there are always extra deer that need to be processed,” said Cavitt, R-Cheboygan. “MSAH gets the deer to processors and ensures all resulting venison gets to the dinner tables of people who need it.”
